  • For anybody interested, the 'blue coat boys' are actually senior pupils of Christ's Hospital School, founded 1502, who then marched through the streets every year on this day to show themselves off to prospective employers. This is still carried out today, although the school is now based in Sussex and includes both boys and girls. The school marches through the City of London behind the Christ's Hospital Band and after a church service are given lunch at the Guildhall and are greeted by the Lord Mayor.
