The owner goes upstairs and puts the money from his pay packet into his sock which he hides under his pillow. The man then goes to bed with a candle burning next to his bed.

Exterior shot of house with light shining from bedroom.

Sub-title reads - 'Some Hours Later'.

Exterior shot of the house as it sets on fire.

The man (dressed in his night shirt and cap) climbs out of the window to escape the fire. He sits on the kerb and pictures his burnt up money sock and his dead dog.

The dog - thankfully still alive - trots along the road carrying the sock of money. He runs to the Post Office Savings Bank and sits on the step to wait until the Bank opens.

Title comes on screen "Better Save Than Sorry".
