This is the presentation of the colours which took place the 16th of July 1941 at RAF Swinderby near Newark. Those Present included President Wladyslaw Raczkiewicz, Prime Minister General Sikorski, and air chief marshal Charles Portal, representatives of all Polish squadrons both fighter and bomber.
The soldier on the stretcher is sgt Zygmunt Poplawski who was decorated the Polish Virtuti Military Cross and became an officer during the same ceremony. Zygmunt Poplawski was a co/pilot of 301 Squadron and was wounded 22/23rd June while returning from Bremmen.
