    Ships lifeboats (the rowing boat variety) bob up and down on the water of New York Harbour. They are preparing for a race.

    The boats set off rowing across the choppy waters. The crewmen chant to keep time. Various motorboats are sailing alongside to keep watch. There is a large crowd watching from the harbour. Closer shots of some of the boats, including the British entrant from the SS Caledonia. Shots of the Norwegian team who are well out in the lead.
