    Location of events unknown.

    Two men shake hands as they walk up a flight of stairs. Men and women climb the stairs, all very smartly dressed. Speeches are made. Presentations are made. The men and women are sitting in a meeting room around long tables.

    C/Us of various guests listening to speeches and applauding. Shot of a clergyman. Hands are shaken as people leave.

    Combined sound from 01:29:11. Speech is made addressing "Your Excellency, my Lord Mayor etc." The luncheon relates to "The Chapel Fund". Mr Arthur Rank and Mr Philip Walter are thanked for their contributions. Mr Rank makes a speech about what a pleasure it is for the ordinary man in the street to be able to contribute to the American Memorial Fund via the Odeon and Gaumont cinemas. He hands two cheques to the Chairman. Mr Walter hands over money from his chain of cinemas (?). The money will contribute to the building of a memorial chapel commemorating American soldiers killed during World War 2. The appeal was launched in November 1945 to create a chapel at Eastern end of St Paul's Cathedral. A long speech is made about the work of American Servicemen during the war.

    The chapel is to be known as "the Cathedral of the Empires". He thanks Mr Arthur Rank, Sir Philip Walter and Mr Milder (?) - owner of the three cinema chains. Joint efforts of the cinema industry and the W.V.S. (Women's Voluntary Service) are praised. An American gentleman (U.S. Ambassador in Britain?) makes a speech expressing the gratitude of his countrymen. Thanks given to the Anglo-British Commonwealth Association, the English Speaking Union, the British moving picture industry, Lady Reading and her helpers.
