The scenes witnessed here are taking place in Blons, in the Austrian Alps.

Blons was struck by an avalanche on January 12 1954. While rescuers were at work a second avalanche struck. In all, over 200 people died.

The first rescue helicopter seen is a U.S. Army craft. The second is a Hiller UH-12B, Reg. No. HB-XAC.
