'I'm very glad to say this is a big crowd. It's a very good omen. I look like getting into parliament. My memory's rather bad so I shall have to read from notes, but what we do want to see is beer, that's the point, beer 6d. a pint and much stronger than it is today. Why should we pay 1/5d. for a pint of H2O. We don't import water. CU Perry continues 'Balham, I say Balham, and Tooting wants decorating. Both these places look too shabby and, most important of all I want to see a woman Prime Minister, Yes, that's what we want to see. I am very proud to say that I have Councillor Marshall Brown, a staunch Conservative, and he is going to speak for us and put other points of view and I'm going to hand the microphone over to Councillor Marshall Brown. MS Perry speaking again '.... that's the great thing. Before we vote, Now, that's the only thing I can say to you dear friends, let us think before we vote and if you can't think, well, then, don't vote, That's the point. CU 'Thank you so much for turning out, Let's hope for the best. All the best for 1950. CU 'would like to (can you hear this?) I would just like to finish by saying, "God Bless you." If I get in Parliament I thinks you can rely on me doing the very best for you. At any rate I will try and do so. ' CU 'One in the crowd is asking me why I'm splitting the vote'. (Speaks to somebody in crowd and to cameramen.) MS 'Why am I splitting the vote? the world is splitting the atom. Yes. that's the answer to that. Various shots as questions and answers continue.
