    Aeroplane prepares for flight.

    Location of events unknown / unclear.

    MS as large aeroplane with folded up wings is brought out on horse-drawn cart. MS as it stops in front of hotel. LS big hangar, man walks about in front. MS as men dismantle the boards in front. MS aeroplane inside, a man has sign reading 'The Standard'.

    MS as car drives onto airfield. MS two men in car and others around it. The men get out. MS as man helps pilot off with coat and jacket then on with flying jacket. MS as he is handed goggles and flying helmet. Back view MS pilot in plane. LS plane flying in distance, pan across to building and men watching.

  • There's more footage of this story in clip 2378.15.

    The man sat in the car in the cloth cap at 01:59 is Gustav Hamel. Given that Hamel went missing over the English Channel on 23 May 1914, never to be found, the clip's date range needs altering to 1910-1914.
