United States of America. Introductory intertitle reads: "What would you think of an Angler who said he'd caught a turtle, a seal and other queer 'fish' in a single swoop? Well, here is the 'catch' - " High angle shot of a pier. Lots of people stand on the pier looking down at the sea. There is a large net suspended beneath the pier. High angle shot showing fish and creatures swimming around in the net. M/S of some of the spectators. A smaller net is used to bring some of the fish up. Intercutting between spectators, fishermen who bring up the catch and shots of the fish wriggling around in the net. A small seal is lifted up in the small net. M/S of group of men looking at their catch. One of the men talks about the turtle saying he is the type that can live for a hundred years. He names some of the other things he has caught - the type of fish etc. Intertitle reads: "And here's a new dogma for the "fundamentalists." C/U of an elderly man speaking. He says: "You've all heard a whole lot about Mother Earth but you're all wrong, it's Mother Ocean. And this theory of man's descending from a monkey is all bunk. Man's remote ancestors were fish, just common ordinary fish."

Most of the sound seems to have been recorded at the scene - people talking, children shouting etc. Difficult to distinguish many of the words being spoken.

Note: item length includes opening title sequence. Sequence features the words "Pathe Pictorial - Puts the World Before You" over a shot of the River Thames with Tower Bridge in the background. Intertitle follows which reads: "Recorded by R.C.A. Photophone System. Sound begins from this story's main title.

Sequence of man talking about men being descended from fish is very nice.
