Item title reads: " A Novel "Grand National" Despite bad weather conditions, car beats horse in unique race on the La Chapelle racecourse."

    France

Opening shot shows a horse and jockey and an open topped racing car and driver on the racecourse with crowds on both sides. Action shots of the start, show the race horse and rider taking an early lead. They jump a fence towards the camera - what about the car? Amazingly the car is also seen jumping the fence easily and landing safely, and carrying on. Further shots of jumps, the car veers to one side at one fence. C/U of horse and jockey, and the car and driver at the race finish with onlookers. Driver and jockey shake hands.

Note: Fantastique, formidable - great sequence and a marvellous example of Pathe coverage of car stunts. Quirky and funny.
