    People pay their respects to the late Earl Douglas Haig, we visit the ancestral home of the Haigs and the Earl's final resting place and see footage of his funeral procession.

    Full titles read: "A great soldier passes - Thousands of men and women of high and low degree, reverently pay their last tribute to late Earl Haig."

    M/S of a church tower; tilt down to show dozens of people making their way into the church; a policeman stands by as the men and women go inside. Brief shot inside the church of Earl Haig's coffin; two soldiers stand either side. People are seen coming out of the church, having paid their respects.

    Intertitle reads: "Bemersyde... ancestral home of the Haigs."
    Scotland - L/S of a large house, pan left to show the driveway.

    Intertitle reads: "Dryburgh Abbey... his resting place."
    L/S of the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey and graveyard.

    Intertitle reads: "The village schoolchildren ... who all loved him... pay their last tribute."
    L/S of a small group of children in a school yard; they look up at a Union Jack flag flying at half mast. M/S as a girl from the group places a wreath at the base of the flagpole, and the children salute the flag.

    Several shots then show the funeral procession of Earl Haig; crowds line the streets as a long military parade passes; numerous military men are on horseback; a military band is seen in the procession. The parade seems to march down the Mall; we see the coffin being pulled along on a cart by horses; several civilian men in the procession carry wreaths. The coffin arrives outside Westminster Abbey and is carried inside.
