Firefighting demonstration at the fire school of the RAF regiment depot at Catterick, Yorkshire. A Javelin aircraft is on fire and we see the firemen putting out the blaze and dragging the pilot clear. Nice footage.
Rapier - Britain's new mobile surface to air missile - is assembled in record speed by men in khakis. Various shots of our latest supersonic missile.
In Colerne in Wiltshire we see demonstration of RAF's airfield defence techniques. There is a mock battle with good footage of men firing rifles and anti aircraft guns, men sliding down ropes suspended from RAF helicopter, firing machine guns, etc. Four men are "killed" as they run through undergrowth.
Strike Command's air defence squadrons are seen in action. Radar system, air control tower, crew scrambles (leaving their game of cards), pilots climb aboard a Lightning supersonic fighter plane. Aircraft is prepared for take off in under 2 minutes. Its flight is observed by a man through binoculars. Nice air to air shots of Lightning plane in flight.
Queen's Colours Squadron mounts the Buckingham Palace Guard. Various shots of the Changing of the Guard and of the regiment marching. Ends with C/U of the RAF flag.
