Titles read: "The CUP FINAL 1938".
Various brief shots of people arriving at Wembley for the FA Cup Final; souvenir sellers; empty beer bottles in a group of the ground; a steam train arriving at the station. General views of the crowds in the packed stadium; newsreel cameramen perched on the top of the stadium.
The Huddersfield Town (in stripes) and Preston North End (black shorts) football teams come out onto the pitch. King George VI (Prince Albert, Duke of York) comes onto the pitch with Football Association President William Pickford to shake hands with each team member. The King and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother, Duchess of York) take their seats in the royal box.
Team captain, Tom Smith (Preston) watches as Huddersfield's Alf Young tosses the coin. Various shots of the match. Preston score a goal (? not sure if it's official) and a penalty kick, winning the match. The Preston team bounce about and hug each other and the referee; the crowd cheers. Captain Tom Smith receives the trophy from the King; Alf Young receives the runner up prize. Tom Smith is hoisted onto the shoulders of two men (briefly - he must be quite heavy!). According to the Almanack for this year, the score was 1 - 0.
Note: section with soundtrack of the winning penalty kick exists - see separate record.
