M/S of car stopping at foot of steps to town hall. The mace bearer leaves opens the rear door, a woman (Lady Mayor?) and a teenage girl get out. The girl is Jean Owen, "schoolgirl Mayoress of Bexley". They shake hands with group of people as they walk up steps.
We see Jean entering the doorway to official hall. The group come into room, the mace bearer helps the Jean take off her coat. C/U of Jean walking to table with mace bearer. C/U of mace bearer picking up mayoress' chain from table placing it round neck of girl. M/S of Jean with Lady Mayor receiving bouquets from school girls. Various official types enter room and shake hands with Jean.
