Sunset over the Scilly Isles. Views of the sea and small rocks around the islands. Seals in the waves. Choppy seas. Waves crashing against the rocks. The steamer that comes from Cornwall meets "heavy weather". Very dramatic shots of rough seas. Natural sanctuary for sea birds. Gulls, shags, razorbills and puffins sit on the rocks. Razorbills in C/U. Their shuffling walk is compared to the walk of Charlie Chaplin. Puffin in C/U. Razorbills and puffins in C/U. Shags on the rocks supporting their weight with their tails. Shags' nests. Baby shags in their nest. They are "twins".
Gulls in the rocks - "a communal nursery". Black backed gulls make nests of old seaweed. They get as much privacy as "tenants in council houses". Herring gull - an egg thief. The gulls fly in the air, hop on and off nests etc. Oyster catcher stands on a rock. Nest made amongst stones and flowers. Oyster catcher sitting on its nest. Black backed gulls lay their eggs in a hollow amongst the flowers. We see a gull laying eggs. Manx shearwater is in terror of the gulls. Nesting in a hole, it flits around nervously if it has to leave its nest. The cruel gulls kill shearwaters just for the sake of killing.
The abundance of birds is attributed to the fact that the islands are so inaccessible to man.
