    News in a Nutshell.

    Intertitle - 'Boston' (America, USA) - L/S of firemen with their hoses trained on the burning high school. M/S of the tower ablaze. M/S of firemen trying to tackle it. M/S of the children watching from the side. M/S of the tower burning. Various shots of the firemen and the burnt out building.

    Intertitle - 'Halifax' (West Yorkshire) - M/S of Yorkshire regiment standing to attention, Brigadier General Turner pulls curtain back on new engine named after them. C/U of nameplate 'The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding)'. M/S of driver and fireman waving, they both served in the regiment. Various shots of the driver and fireman talking to the soldiers. M/S as the Brigadier inspects the engine.

    Intertitle missing, should read - 'Scenes in Barcelona' (Spain) - M/S of troops riding on horses, and people applauding. Various shots of shell fire in the hills, various shots of buildings damaged by the war. M/S of refugees making their way to the French border. M/S of people gathered at a train station.

    Intertitle - 'Colorado' (America, USA) - Various shots of snow storms in Colorado, buildings, cars and monuments are covered. People shovel away the snow in Denver, and a car drives through. Various shots as a man trudges through the snow as another pushes great piles from the top of his hedge and plants. Various shots of fallen trees, a car is crushed. M/S of a little girl making a snowman, she puts a hat on it.

    Intertitle - 'Durham' - L/S of Durham cathedral, various shots of people waiting and watching outside. M/S of the bride, Elizabeth Allington, (the Dean of Durham's daughter) and the groom Lord Dunglass walking through the cloisters, the sun shining through windows has made lovely pattern on the ground as they walk through. They emerge from the cathedral with their bridesmaids. C/U of one cute page boy. M/S of the bridesmaids, the bridal party walk down the path towards their cars. Various shots of the guests following them.

    Intertitle - 'Johannesburg' (South Africa) - M/S as the Governor General of South Africa cuts the magnificent tiered Jubilee cake, he smiles and bows to the mayor. The cake is disassembled. L/S of outdoor parade showing history of Johannesburg, covered wagons drive past and people wave from coaches. Native South African boys pull a bar of gold to represent the output 50 years ago, others draw one for last year which is a lot bigger. The procession continues with models and floats, boys dance and old cars drive through.

    Intertitle missing, should read - Leeds University's new library opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury' - L/S of the new library exterior. M/S of the inscription above it. M/S interior of the reading room, M/S of people applauding. M/S of the Earl of Harewood entering followed by Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, along with other dignitaries.

    Intertitle - 'London and Paris' - L/S of police at East End demonstration (of unemployed ?), people march along in the procession which has been banned. L/S of demonstrators in Paris, the police run after them, there are some scuffles and one man is carried off by his collar.

    Note: the items 'Forest Fire on Pacific Coast U.S.', 'Germany's Big Battleship is launched' and 'Princess Royal at Windsor' are missing from this edition.
