L/S of people lining the pavement on Downing Street, the camera pans across them. M/S of Soviet Ambassador Mr Ivan Maisky leaving the Foreign Office and getting into a car. M/S as Mr J. H. Thomas and Mr Walter Runciman (President of the Board of Trade) leave 10 Downing Street together chatting. M/S as Lord Hailsham (the Lord Chancellor) and Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister (Secretary for Air) emerge and walk on looking at the camera. M/S as Sir John Simon (Home Secretary) and Oliver Stanley (President of the Board of Education) leave deep in conversation. M/S profile as opposition leader Clement Attlee arrives for a meeting with Stanley Baldwin. M/S of Anthony Eden emerging and walking past the camera. L/S as crowds move on.

    Intertitle - 'Croydon' (Greater London) - M/S as Tommy Rose's monoplane comes into land at Croydon aerodrome and taxis in front of crowds of people. He has beaten the record for flying from London to Cape Town. M/S as Tommy stands on the wing and coughs, he is surrounded by people on the ground, he jumps down and walks along with them. M/S of Tommy in the Mansion House where he presents the Lord Mayor of London with a greeting from the mayor of Johannesburg. C/U of him smiling.

    Intertitle - 'Off to Egypt. 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards leave London.' - M/S as the Grenadier Guards march from Chelsea barracks to Waterloo station with a band in front, various shots of the soldiers, some are carrying weapons. M/S as families say goodbye to the boys on the train and wave as they go. M/S as they walk up the gangway and get on the "Cameronia". L/S of them on the ship, they cheer and wave to people as it sails away.

    Intertitle - 'Belfast' (Ulster, Northern Ireland) - M/S as Viscountess Craigaven, wife of the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, walks along and is presented with a bouquet by a young boy. M/S of people working on the "Royal Ulsterman" ship. She pulls the lever, the champagne smashes and the ship is launched, various shots as it slides into the water. Chains are pulled after it. M/S of the ship.

    Intertitle - 'United States' (America, USA) - L/S of frozen fields and rivers. People slide about and duck under the icy ridges. A man pushes a plunger and explodes the ice on the river. M/S as vast ice flows move along, M/S of raging torrents pouring down causing swollen rivers. L/S of a bridge in Tennessee valley, various shots as it is blown up because it has become unsafe.

    Intertitle - 'Newcastle' (Tyne and Wear)- M/S of two new destroyers side by side on launching platform. "Hero" is launched first, then "Hereward" a few minutes later. Various shots as they slide into the water.

    Note: The item 'The Late Earl Beatty' is missing from this edition.
