Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. A U.I.C. production.
C/U of a piece of paper. The animators' hands are in shot as he pours a drop of ink onto the paper. This ink spot moves and grows until it forms our friend Jerry in silhouette. He scratches his head and says: "If I had a banjo now I'd look a real nigger minstrel." The animator drops another ink spot on the page which moves around Jerry, making circles in the air around him. Jerry jumps up and grabs on to it and is spun around. The ink eventually makes the shape of a banjo and Jerry grabs it and starts strumming. the words "plink plonk plunk" are animated around him. The animator pierces Jerry's foot with a pin and the black ink drains from him so that he is no longer in silhouette. He sings "Show me the way to go home" (the words appear on screen) and dances a little bit with some musical notes. He puts his foot on the notes to prop his leg up under the banjo but they move and he falls over.
Jerry gets angry and smashes his banjo on the notes. Then he starts crying. Suddenly he finds himself in a country landscape. A tramp is propped up against the trunk of a tree having a snooze and his belongings - a bundle on the end of a pole - are lying by his side. "Ah! That looks like a good feed!" thinks Jerry. He grabs the bundle and runs off. The man sets off in hot pursuit and chases Jerry to a petrol station. He cannot see Jerry and when he has run off, Jerry reveals himself to have been disguised as a petrol pump. The man spots him and chases him. Jerry makes the man fall in a river. Jerry dreams about what will be in the bundle - a big roast chicken. He opens the handkerchief and discovers a pair of boots - which walk off of their own accord. Jerry falls down in a faint (presumably they are smelly!) In a variation on "seeing stars" animated circles appear above Jerry's head. Story seems incomplete.
