Star Item
  • Description

Locations of events unknown - could be Merton studios? London.

    No Commentary.

An item of an unidentified film being made. A lot of behind the scenes material, including preview theatre and editing rooms. A young woman is seen being shown around the set by a male companion. She meets some of the film's stars - she has tea with one of the actresses and is even seen in a romantic clinch with the male star!

NB: originally Film Fanfare 4 and 5 were combined - however they have been transferred onto Pathe Master tape PM2813 as separate items. See separate record for details of Film Fanfare no. 4.

    Amenment Septmeber 2011:

Studios could be Nettlefold Studios and not Merton Park.

The shorter man in the video could be the famous director Terence Fisher along with actors Tom Conway and Eunice Gayson.

The set iteself could have been for the "THE LAST MAN TO HANG" production which was made in 1956.

Tidying up the first line and the existing amendment dated September 2011........

"Studios could be Nettlefold Studios and not Merton Park" - the camera seen at 01:36 is marked "Nettlefolds Camera Dept", so that pretty much decides that argument!

"The set itself could have been for the "THE LAST MAN TO HANG" production which was made in 1956" - yes this is The Last Man to Hang. Seen at 00:46 are Eunice Gayson and Tom Conway, two of the stars of that film, then at 02:04 the man in centre picture in the glasses is director Terence Fisher.
