Another thrifty summer for Britain means that many of us will be making do with our own chalky shores for amusement. Yet not that long ago, before package holiday culture came into place, most of us had a ball at British holiday camps. Hopefully this gallery will get you in the mood for some good old classic camping, English-style!
All aboard!
Butlins in Skegness was the first British holiday camp to open a monorail system, the first monorail in Britain in fact. It launched at Skegness in May 1965.
Have you been to a British holiday camp?
