With the news that Nicole Kidman is set to play Grace Kelly in a film, the Pathe archives have delved deep to find pictures that remind us of this beautiful Oscar-winning actress who gave it all up for a life as princess of Monaco.

Grace Kelly is of course a fashion icon. Her cultural legacy and image is so vivid that today some might call her a "global brand", her look still inspires fashion designers around the world. Even now, behind the commercialisation glows Grace's sophistication and elegance.

This lovely image of Grace turning around to smile in a lace bonnet is taken from British Pathe's film "The Grace Kelly Story".
