Elvis Presley died 35 years ago, on 16 August 1977. 70,000 of his fans will make their annual trip to Graceland where they will hold a candlelight vigil for the King of Rock n Roll.

'I've never met a better group of boys'
By the 28th March, Elvis arrived at Fort Hood, Texas for six months of training before shipping off to Germany. Despite the chance to enlist in the 'Special Services' for an easier time and to entertain the troops, Elvis decided to serve as a regular soldier. This earned him the respect of his fellow soldiers and many of the people in America.
