By the 28th March, Elvis arrived at Fort Hood, Texas for six months of training before shipping off to Germany. Despite the chance to enlist in the 'Special Services' for an easier time and to entertain the troops, Elvis decided to serve as a regular soldier. This earned him the respect of his fellow soldiers and many of the people in America.
