Elvis received his draft notice on Friday December 20, 1957, where he was ordered to report for duty on January 20th. At the time he was filming for 'King Creole', his latest movie and applied to defer his duty in order to finish the job.

The deferment was granted and Elvis was inducted March 24, 1958.

We love the man standing behind Elvis in this picture.
