10. Johnny Hallyday marries Sylvie Vartan (1965)
Two of France’s biggest stars Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan tied the knot in the Spring of 1965. The wedding took place in the German town of Offenburg, where a swarm of Hallyday’s fans mobbed him on his way into the church.
French pin-up Johnny also did his national service for France and the British Pathé clip from which this wedding footage is taken shows great shots of Hallyday undergoing his military training, wading his way across rural brooks as well as emotionally wading his way through a sack of fan mail on his bed.
Johnny and Sylvie divorced in 1980. Johnny is still married to his fourth wife Laeticia Boudou, whilst Sylvie is married to record producer Toni Scotti.
