The British Pathe Early Traffic Scenes film has to be one of our most interesting newsreels. The film provides a montage of clips filmed around the UK in the 1890s. But it's not just the traffic scenes, it's the people and the clothes they are wearing and the advertising on the sides of the vehicles which all make it so fascinating.
Sunderland Bridge, County Durham, 1896
A grainy still of a horse drawn open top bus on Sunderland Bridge some 115 years ago. Buses were the original mobile advertising billboard and in this image you can see adverts for Milk and Sunlight soaps plastered over the buses.
